WALKING MY WAYS
WALKING MY WAYS. Yesterday it rained. Sort of. Depending on your location. First I saw my tenant, taking her pooch out for his walk. Rain and all. And then I drove to RISE & ROAM, to pick up some Salmon Tarantine. For friends, for lunch. And the lady who waited on me said it was her favorite. Along with their breakfast pizza. Which I never have had. But surely will. Sometime.
And on the way, I passed my favorite two-some. Mom and 11 year old daughter, walking their 15 blocks to and from lower Stevenson. Galoshes, rain coats and all. But they are tough, so a little rain won’t hurt them. And then I ran into former neighbors, who had just dropped their kids off as well. Same school. Different grades. And they told me that their eldest was going to go camping. In Big Sur, that evening. His first. Now many years ago, I also camped in Big Sur. In the rain. And that was a trip. And I have no idea if it rained last night. But I do know that if it did, it will be an evening that young man may never forget. Never.
And then I drove home, to prepare lunch. And I also had a salad. From Julia’s. In Pacific Grove. If you have never been to Julia’s, you should. It is the best. Vegetarian. And gluten free, if you want. And, in my opinion, the very best pizza on the Monterey Peninsula. Bar none. Although I didn’t have pizza, this time. Nevertheless, I knew it was going to be a delicious lunch. For deserving guests.
And so another day had come and gone. And I realized, once again, what a privilege it is to live on this Peninsula. And with a little rain, it even is better. Even if we only get the rain once or twice. Here and there. Off and on. But when we do, it is a gift.Always. Finis.

Once again, rain or shine, Haenschen (the diminutive of Hans) spreads light and laughter, happiness and joy, and an overall feeling of PEACE! Would that we has 300 million + like Hans. Then we would truly be the UNITED States. Where this nation often seems shattered, Hans is the epitome of Tikkun Olam - Hebrew for "Repair the World" - and make it a better place than you found it. Shalom, my friend! Love, Hugo
Tuesday I spontaneously decided to go camping(backpacking) in Big Sur, unaware of the weather that evening, but was taking too long to pack and so went and stayed with my wife at the Carmel Valley farm she works at instead. Was glad I didn't go as it rained all night, but did make me wonder what it would've been like.
