WALKING MY WAYS. Last week, every day was special. First of all, All Saints Episcopal Church celebrated its 75th Anniversary Celebration Jubilee. That was yesterday. With Elizabeth Barlow unveiling her magnificent Calla Lillies and Wisteria painting, “Transfiguration.” With music, blessings, fellowship and refreshments. And where, because I was All Saints’ longest serving member, I even gave a brief, personal, narrative. And saw numerous friends, I hadn’t seen in years. Which was a joy.

Secondly, on that same day, Congregation Beth Israel had its traditional Jewish Food Festival. Full of music, food, cultural performances and a welcoming atmosphere. Where one could indulge in an endless supply of matzo ball soup, pastrami sandwiches, latkes, fresh baked bread and much more. As well as bask in the sun. And thoroughly enjoy oneself, eating and just laying back.

And third, the entire week was the Carmel Bach Festival’s final week. With music through day and night. And two especial evenings. Tuesday’s enthralling performance of Bach and Lotti. And Thursday’s amazing combination of Bach, Brazilian and Bluegrass music. Focused on mandolins. In addition, I ate a delicious lunch at the Jeju Kitchen, in the Plaza. And a savory dinner at Il Farnaio, with its extensive menu. Both with long time friends. Followed by more music. Plus always finding a perfect parking spot, adjacent to my destinations. Total serendipity.

And then, at the Bach Festival, I ran into additional individuals. Some I knew. Some I didn’t. Some of whom were long time friends. Others, recent acquaintances. Some of whom I have known for years. Others through my blog. But they all had a common denominator. Namely a love and appreciation for the Carmel Bach Festival, and its continuous appeal to its many devotees. Which made the entire Festival a large, exhilarating, bonded, family. After which, I did make it to bed. Almost an after thought. And after being subjected to a host of musical days and nights. All uplifting and delightful. And so it really was an inspirational week. For me. Fini.
